Trail Runner is the running app you didn't know you needed. Explore Wellington city through a new set of eyes as you discover trails you never knew were right in your backyard. Trail Runner will guide you from your current location, directly to the trail head and along the trail itself. With visual and voice directions, no trail is too hard to find!


Runners of all skill levels and experience can use Trail Runner. The interface is designed with simplicity in mind, making it easier than ever to pick a route and run!


Trail Runner wants to get you on the trails quicker and easier than ever before, so you have more time to focus on your run and explore Wellington city in a completely new way!

Inspiration

My initial inspiration for designing Trail Runner came from the real problems I had experienced when attempting to run trails I had never been on before. Already being a step ahead in terms of user experience and research, I thought this was a good opportunity to design an app that I personally would love to use. Not everyone likes to run or exercise outdoors but I used this as an extra challenge component - to entice even the most resistent.

I conducted research by downloading and using different apps and looking on a range of websites. I started to create a list of different components that worked well within each app or website and tried to incorporate it into my design. With the end goal of creating a seamless and simple, yet detailed app that even the least tech-savvy person could navigate. This project was a great way to get back out on the trails and gain inspiration from real user experience, which made the design process very enjoyable.
